Huge seas at Porthleven

Porthleven in Cornwall is one of my very favourite places, but look at these pictures of it yesterday when it was hit by Storm Imogen.

If you look carefully at the first picture you will see there are cars awash, and, yes, two people standing waist-deep in water where the waves are crashing over the edge of the harbour.   People like these are called “storm watchers”.   They like to experience being within the storm and often to take photos.   But they are putting their life at risk, and potentially putting at risk others who might be needed to rescue them if they are swept out to sea.

The second picture is even more amazing.   It is taken from high up in the town on the other side of the harbour, looking across the harbour to further round the bay.   Just look at the height of those waves.
